I thought I should write something about the Sibelius concert that took place here in Cluj-Napoca at the Gh.Dima Music Academy. It was 2 or 3 weeks ago, only I was lazy to write something then.. In the picture you can see Jussi Makkonen peforming on the violoncello, and Rait Karm on the piano. Both of them are from Finland.
I know the picture is of very poor quality, I took it with my phone. The strage thing is how the background came off in such a negative colour They performed a few plays of the famous Finnish composer Jean(Jan) Sibelius. It could clearly bee seen that thery´re professionals at what they are doing , although I prefer Vivaldi´s style better . Oh, and we didn´t have to pay anything because we recieved free tickets from the Finnish Embassy of Bucharest.
Okay! It's time for a new blog entry! Now I'm going to write some basics that I learned today on finnish language course.
Hei! Minun nimi on Zoli. | Hi! My name is Zoli. Minä olen yhdeksäntoista vuotias. | I'm nineteen years old. Minä asun Clujissa, Romaniassa. | I live in Cluj, Romania. Opiskelen englantia ja suomea Babes-Bolyain Yliopistossa. | I study english and finnish at the Babes-Bolyai University. Olen unkarilainen. | I'm hungarian. Puhun unkaria, romaniaa, englantia, saksaa, ja nyt vähän suomea. | I speak hungarian, romanian, english, german, and now a little finnish.
I read it on the hungarian wikipedia page of The Da Vinci Code. According to wikipedia, the Da Vinci Code is the second most popular book after the Harry Potter series, and some people characterize it as the adults Harry Potter.
Last week I read Angels & Demons, which had absolutely astonished me. I'm not a fan of thriller, crime novels, but this was unusually brilliant!! Only the beginning was creepy, after that I got used to the crimes. Plus I found out a lot of interesting facts about physics, about Rome and the Vatican. However the most interesting, I found the fact that the entire plot of the novel takes place in one single day. From 6:00 am to 12:00 pm I think. And I must say that I would have never thought that Carlo Ventresca, the camerlengo was behind of all. In conclusion, I think it's an interesting reading for everybody.( above 16 years of age ) Oh, and the film is coming next year!! Now I can't wait to get my hands on the Da Vinci Code. I have been looking for it in nearly every bookstore in town, and I couldn't find it in any..
I just got my free copy of the new Opera Magazine! Printed version! It looks cool. Okay..maybe it´s a bit too big, or I´m just not used to it. Anyway, it has many pictures, interesting writings, etc. Oh, and it´s much better to read this way than from the screen. I especially like the picture of Jon S. von Tetzchner (CEO of Opera Software) in that interesting suit
Hoping to see more picture of Norway, and other interesting articles in the next issue! Btw. I´m curious who wrote the thankyou letter, because it´s not Espen´s handwritig, that´s for sure!
Opera Magazine can be also downloaded from here(.pdf).
Okay, bye for now!I´m going back to study again.. I have less then 20 days until my final exams start, and I still have a lot to do..
I've just been watching the new Nightwish videoclip of The Islander single.
At first it seemed to me that it's a bit surrealist, when I saw that old man pulling that huge 'flying ship. It reminds me of Salvador Dalí's The Temptation of St. Anthony painting[*] - I don't know exactly why, It's just the first thing that came to my mind watching this video. I'm not and expert of arts
I expected to see something totally different in this clip, like..rain, seashore, mountains(maybe), and a typical Scandinavian landscape. Those ghosts are odd to. - and the fire circle:D Hmmm..I wonder what does it symbolize..
For a moment I thought the rope is going to coil on the old man's feet and pull him into the deep when he drops the anchor. But then he smiles. Nightwish always manages to surprise me Maybe I should have paid more attention on the lyrics.
