Random Silliness

, , ,

Hello to all:

This is a bit of a depart from my normal postings in that - there is no real point to any of this. Not that there ever is much of a point to anything that I do post.

Christmas is rapidly approaching and to be honest with you all I haven't done much of anything for anyone – yet! Time is something that is in short supply for me and between working, the snow and a transit strike; getting out and around isn’t all that easy.

Eventually I’ll get Christmas wrapped up but for now it’s got to wait.

When I do find the time to unwind I've come across a couple of very interesting sites and things I'd like to share with you now.

I don't know what it is about this photograph, but I really like it.

You can find more of them at zemotion.net Zhang Jingna is the artist/photographer, well worth a look.

http://zemotion.blogspot.com/ is of course a blog but there are even more images available to view.

Nuthin' Much

There hasn't been much in the way of funny in the papers these past couple of weeks. Sure there's been odd stuff printed but definitely not funny.

Wednesday I read a story about a Japanese man that died at his retirement party. Apparently his co-workers tossed him in the air but forgot to catch him on the way down. Odd, yes - funny, no.

There have been stories about robberies, one of them stuck in my mind because it was a convenience store clerk being robbed. Why did it stick, the robber asked for the cash in the register, got nothing so stole the clerks wallet and got even less.

Yes, lots of stories about robberies and break in's which only show how desperate people actually are. Odd stories, yes, but definitely not funny.

Stories about how the demands being placed on food banks has doubled, stories about factories closing; even the Hershey's plant an hour from here ran its last production shift today before closing its doors permanently. Lots of odd news stories for sure - definitely nothing funny.

The silly season is here for sure, I'm not feeling it.

Now for your viewing pleasure a simple little Public Service Announcement.

Around The World

Ottawa has a lot of statues. Most of them commemorate a Prime Minister or some other figure from history. Pretty mundane if you ask me and the few that aren't are basically chunks of metal that someone calls art and sells for a small fortune.

So where am I going with this? Statues, lots of them, all around the world, different shapes and sizes and all of them unique. Earlier I came across a post from 2006 over at HaHa.nu about, can you guess, statues around the world.

We've all seen the baby stomper statue from Oslo, but does anyone know what it actually is?

Former Beatle John Lennon has been shot dead by an unknown gunman who opened fire outside the musician's New York apartment.

The 40-year-old was shot several times as he entered the Dakota, his luxury apartment building on Manhattan's Upper West Side, opposite Central Park, at 2300 local time.
