After a weekend of unseasonably warm weather, high winds and a lot of rain, it's almost back to normal. More snow on the way, temperatures dropping to where they belong and of course - still no public transit.

Schools are still out for the Christmas break, lots of people taking vacations so the roads aren't too congested. From what I've heard in the news there isn't much hope for a quick end to this strike. Next Monday will be a lot of fun for people.
Maybe we should bring in some of these Indian school buses.
The new year is almost here, I'm keeping the same resolution that I've had for years; it seems to work out no matter what I do.
So far this upcoming year is looking very busy. I'm off to Toronto for a couple of days in January, then Halifax and Fredericton in February. In March I'm off to Edmonton and Victoria, and in between it all I'm still teaching and writing.
I'm keeping this one short, but before I do go off for the night I wanted to bring you this one news article. Seems the crooks really are getting dumber by the minute.
The robber's threatening note made a Chicago bank job easy to solve: The FBI says the suspect wrote it on his pay stub.
An FBI affidavit says the man walked into a Fifth Third Bank on Friday and handed a teller a note that read "Be Quick Be Quit (sic). Give your cash or I'll shoot." The robber got about $400 but left half of his note.
Investigators found the other half outside the bank's front doors. Authorities say that part of the man's October pay stub had his name and address.
The suspect was arrested at his Cary home. A judge ordered him held without bond Monday. If convicted of bank robbery, he faces 20 years in prison.
Now there's a real genius!
I hope that you all have a safe and happy new year.
