world news, odd, life, civilization
...
The world is another year older and its inhabitants don't seem to be any wiser.
Between one war or another, cholera and ebola, aging dictators and the newer despots; parts of the world are in complete chaos and turmoil. My heart goes out to all those living day to day struggling to survive. What we here take for granted - a glass of clean water to drink is a rare commodity in some places.
Not to say that the west doesn't have it's own problems, ours are just a whole lot more trivial.

ads, advertising, civilization, illusions
Ads, commercials, sales pitch, SPAM, doesn't matter what you call it - advertising is everywhere!
I myself am not a huge fan of advertising at all. I often feel like I am being assaulted by images and sounds I don't want to see and definitely don't want to hear either. Fortunately there are alternatives to commercial filled radio and television stations and I make full use of them.

Even better though are the ads that I do actually want to see.
There aren't a whole lot of advertisements that make me look, but the ones that do either are humourous or they are intelligent. Lets be honest - there isn't much intelligence on TV to begin with.
Luckily for us all there are some creative people out there that realize we are being over-saturated with ads and they are taking a new approach.
Intelligent, thoughtfull and funny ads are making a comeback.
Looking around design sites I came across a great collection of ads. They aren't all traditional advertising - but it is advertising.

china, nsfw, photography, civilization
I've said this before and I'm saying it again - I spend a lot of time online. If I'm not working online, I'm researching or I'm preparing the next bunch of video tutorials, or and this is my favourite part I'm looking at some of the things that people send me to look at.
Yes there are definitely some odd things but there are even more great and wonderful things.

Take for example a Chinese photographer by the name of
Chen Zhun.
Here for your Sailor Moon type fantasy is a Chen Zhun anime style photo set. You tell me - are these girls genetically modified or is it Photoshop that gives them the long legs.
Looking for more of his photos, then be sure to visit either
Chinese Tools or his
Linked In page. Some photos may be considered NSFW.
