Bookfair and more

Ohkay, haven't posted anything recently. The fact is, I was mostly away and too busy.

From Sunday evening to Wednesday morning, I was in Belgrade. Ohkay, I'm lying, I was in Novi Sad for couple of hours, thanks to the fact that traveling by train is really cheap. The bad thing is, that train was late for over an hour! But, that's another story.

Used my days off to see a few friends (however, I can never manage to see all the people I want to), to feel the rhythm of my home city (and hell yeah, I do miss it), and to... Go to the International Bookfair!

Now, let's quote it's website:

The 52nd International Belgrade Book Fair will take place on October 22 – 28, 2007, in Belgrade Halls 1 and 14, at 12,500 square meters exhibiting space. The International Belgrade Book Fair will gather numerous local and foreign exhibitors. About 800 local and foreign publishers will feature their editions.

At first I thought not to go to the fair, because I'm mostly jobless right now, and there are bills to be payed P: However, less than a week befor the fair, I realized that I just HAVE to go. At first, they announced that
Niccolò Ammaniti
will be this fair's guest of honor. And yeah, I do love his writing. And then, it turned out that he wasn't coming at all, but there were a lot other italian - and not only italian writers.

So, here's what I've bought
Ivan Klajn - Rečnik jezičkih nedoumica (which means Dictionary Of Language Dilemmas; finally made myself by it, cause it's more than useful. It deals with serbian language, ofcourse)
Niccolò Ammaniti - Come Dio comanda (or As God Commands, it's his latest book, translated here especially for this bookfair, afaik. More...)
Niccolò Ammaniti - L' ultimo capodanno (The Last New Year's eve; read it for several times, now I can actually own it. Tried to find a link for further info, but found only that there's a movie by this book! omg! How come I didn't know that?!)
Niccolò Ammaniti - Lo non ho paura (I'm Not Scared; a movie, again)
Tony Parsons - Man and Boy (finally!
Mary Sullivan - Ship Sooner (actually, translated here as Oslušni tišinu, which means Hear the silence?! More...)
Zoran Živković - Četvrti krug (The Fourth Circle,
more...)
Tom Standage - A history of the World in 6 Glasses (More...)
Virginia Woolf - Mrs Dalloway (read it earlier, but this one's in english)

I think that's all, maybe there's more, but I'm too lazy to deal with all the bags right now x)
My camera ran out of batteries, so my cellphone was there to capture the fair - the good thing was - I went during the least crowded day x)

And yeah, somehow I missed blogging about the Bookfair last year o.O
So, here's just the photo of how crowded it can be!

Quotes - Douglas Adams

,

Humans are not proud of their ancestors, and rarely invite them round to dinner.

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

It is no coincidence that in no known language does the phrase 'As pretty as an Airport' appear. Life... is like a grapefruit. It's orange and squishy, and has a few pips in it, and some folks have half a one for breakfast.

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.
