Strangely touching song so I had to click on YouTube to find out about it. Then checked a few other places to find out about Carson McCullers. Such a tragic story. I'd never heard of her but now want to go to one of my favorite used bookstores and look for something by her. If they don't have anything, then I'll buy one new. Thank you for sharing this.

The tale in the song seems to differ from her actual life story, so I presume they're being metaphorical, or impressionistic or something, but yes, her life story does seem pretty tragic, and her work is definitely worth looking up and looking into.
