People are aware of life when they are aware of death

~~Princess of Death

STICKY POST

Stay back, human. You don't know what you're dealing with.

, , ,

I can not believe I have not posted this in my blog before. This is one of my favorite book series. Artemis Fowl is written by an Irish author named Eoin Colfer. I like the story, characters, plot, and almost everything about it that I have read the entire series (except for the last book, The Time Paradox, since I haven't purchased it yet and there is no stock of it in our nearest bookstores) more than 3 times within a year! Like I said in my previous posts, if I start telling what's it's all about then it will just ruin the story since I am not good in making a synopsis to attract other people to read it as well. So I am just going to post an excerpt of the book which caught my attention before I bought it.

PROLOGUE

How does one describe Artemis Fowl? Various psychiatrists have tried and failed. The main problem is Artemis's own intelligence. He bamboozles every test thrown at him. He has puzzled the greatest medical minds, and sent many of them gibbering to their own hospitals.

There is no doubt that Artemis is a child prodigy. But why does someone of such brillance dedicate himself to criminal activities? This is a question answerable by only one person. And he delights in not talking.

Perhaps the best way to create an accurate picture of Artemis is to tell by now famous account of his first villainous venture. I have put together this report from firsthand interviewers with the victims, and as the tale unfolds, you will realize that this was not easy.

The story began several years ago at the dawn of the twenty-first century. Artemis Fowl had devised a plan to restore his family's fortune. A plan that could topple civilizations and plunge the planet into a cross-species war.

He was twelve years old at that time...

I would love to narrate more of the story, but it seems if I start telling chapter 1, I won't stop or rather you'll pester me to continue typing the story. P:

The novel is appropriate for people at ages 8 and above, but if you are a prodigy like Artemis, then you are ready to read this at the age of 4. It's a really interesting find and when I read it, I couldn't go to sleep. I can't ease myself and my mind is telling me to continue reading. I couldn't wait to know on what happens next. You can't help but be amazed at the main character.

You don't have to worry if you are bothered about the number of books this series have. Each book isn't that big probably the same size as a notebook and the thickness is around an inch or so. The line spacing of that paragraphs is 1.5 with a regular size 12 font. I bought the books at the Scholastic bookfair during my High School days. 'The Artemis Fowl Files' isn't really necessary. Just a guide for the netire series, but it includes two side stories and I think the second one was very touching. A must read for those who will become fans of this series. Oh! I almost forgot, the series is already finished. Unless the author decides to add another book (which would be great) after a few years. I haven't read the ending yet so I can't comment anything about that.

I highly recommend my friends and other bookworms to read this story.

STICKY POST

A little something about me...

Yoroshi-QUEEEENN!!! I am the 'Princess of Death'... but you can just call me Hime (princess in Japanese). I am a die hard fan of Anime and Manga. I am the kind of person who could always smile even though she is in pain and could brighten your day even if she couldn't even brighten up her own. I learn to accept people's traits and characteristics and try to understand them. A lot people say that I am friendly, out-going, noisy, funny, clumsy, talented, interesting, happy-go-lucky, blissful, understanding, and wild. Some people tell me that I am cold, detestable, haughty, deciever, complex, lazy, and apathetic in which I agree as well. Often at times, I prefer to hide my true feelings than exposing them. I'd rather smile and show all my teeth rather than showing how miserable I feel. I often find myself thinking about random and usuall stuff when I am bored. I am a multi-tasker and a crammer. I can watch anime while reading manga then talk on the phone, browse the internet, and chat all in the same time. Cramming is a very bad habit of mine. But, I noticed that I perform better when I cram. Ideas and my creativity boosts up when I cram. I also have a bad sleeping habit. I can stay awake for 3 days without any sleep at all. I get less than 6 hours of sleep a day... and can stay hyperactive the whole time I am awake! I love animals! If ever I had the chance to get anything I want... that would be having the powers to grant my wishes. And my first wish would be... "SAVE THE ANIMALS, WILDLIFE, and NATURE!" One great characteristic of mine is that I have a lot of hobbies and interests. I like sports, games (computer, nintendo, psp, playing), reading books (a total bookworm), technology, music, animals, browsing the internet, animation (especially ANIME), comics (mostly MANGA), shopping, bags (I have lots of them), scents, cold stuff (ice cream, etc.), foods, and a whole lot more!

The terrible thing happened...

, ,

Oh sweet irony! I was watching Kyou Kara Maou minutes ago when this happened. Crap! Well, I have no right to complain since this is just free online streaming and I'm not even suppose to watch it online for free since it is already licensed but I am currently broke and I don't have sufficient funds to buy the DVD of the second and third season of this anime. The only amusing part is that (look at the subtitle) "something terrible may happen."... and behold! Just when I was about to get to the good part!

Actually, I have a lot of other things I have to do like doing a thesis, finishing some projects and assignments, reviewing, and all that but I am not in the mood. *sigh*

Well, I suppose I can browse other's blogs while I wait for the wrethched Megavideo to allow me to continue.

Hello 2009! Nice to meet you!

, ,

2009 is finally here! Nothing special for me really, I still plan on keeping my old habits since I don't find anything bothersome or wrong about it, but there are some goals that I would like to achieve before this new year ends.

  • Pass the nursing battery exam

  • Remain studying at Trinity University of Asia as a nursing student (meaning I have to maintain a GPA of 2 flat or higher with no violations or sanctions)

Hi there! I am very ashamed to ask this of you but will you please help me in the improvement of my blog? This is not really my first blog, although my former blogs were just about rubbish and merely has less than five posts. I am even surprised that over the past few months, I have been fond of this community and blogging.

Now, for the favor I am asking. Please bare with me and this will be embarrassing for me but I really need the help and cooperation of people who have been visiting my blog and painstakingly read my posts. I know that people here (probably including me) have been kind and have been here long enough to overlook mistakes made by people whose native language isn't English or even by people who happened to know English alone but I would like to ask an exception in my case. If you notice any grammatical errors, fragments, typographical errors, wrong word usage, mispellings, and the like... do not hesitate to inform me. I would prefer to know my mistakes because it seems it is the best way to learn. I grew up in Asia and even though English was the first words I ever spoke, there are still other languages I know (like the local language of my country which by now I am using 24/7) and other dialects I happen to be fluent in. So sometimes there will be English errors on this blog but I will try my best avoid such errors and mistakes.

Thank you very much and Have a nice day

Wretched Insomnia

, ,

I haven't had a wink of sleep last night so my insomnia must be kicking back again. Darn! I hate insomnia. After a few sleepless nights, it makes me dizzy and my head aches whenever I do certain activities that requires more that the usual energy, such as running up the stairs. I was so tired last night but I still couldn't sleep. Past midnight, I decided to read a book to calm my nerves and probably my eyes will finally fall to sleep. I sighed as I kept a mental note that I am in dire need to visit the bookstore soon because for the past few weeks I've been reading books that I have read more than once before.I grabbed a book which I have just read a few months ago and I thought it would bore me if I read it thus resulting to my long awaited sleep. But later on, I discovered that I was so wrong. I was already sleepy alright and I found my eyes dropping already but too bad... my brain was wide awake wanting to read more.

Even when my dad declared lights out I snuck out to continue reading a marvelous story about a Countess losing all her fortunes and her father during the Russian revolution and ended up as a maid for the newly appointed Earl of Westerholme. Eventually the engaged Earl fell inlove with this beautiful young Countess who proved her worth by surrendering her life in eternal servitude and hiding the fact she was a countess. But through her actions and her through her words, it was obvious enough that she was a fine lady coming from a rich house. Even though she was pampered as a young girl, her determination to be a servant for the house of Mersham and be a little help for her fallen family did great wonders. A wonderful story indeed. Although I am not good at re-telling stories, I would simply like to imply that the story and plot was great beyond any of my description.

In the end, I finished the book earlier this dawn and now still wide away wide the excitement the book had bring. I will remember for the future that reading novels is not a good idea to put a fiction/book worm to sleep.

Riches to Rags...

Due to some family inconvenience and problems, I wasn't been able to go online last December 27, 2008. So what did I do with my spare time? I browsed some 'already seen and read' books in my room and found one that I haven't read again for years. It seems I need another trip to the bookstore because I am running out of fiction bound materials.

Esperanza Rising, written by Pam Muñoz Ryan, is a wonderful novel, which can be read by people of all ages. I would be happy to tell you what this story is all about. Unfortunately, I am lousy at passing down stories. I prefer making my own stories because I am pretty much suck-ish when I am handing down other stories. It just wont give the book any justice if I did or due to my bad storytelling skills you will not find any interest in this book. Just click the link or google it and maybe there will be more suitable synopsis around than the one that I may give.
I found this really interesting quote in the first pages of the book which I would love to share to everyone.

The rich person becomes richer when he becomes poor, than the poor person when he becomes rich.

It's a Mexican proverb and has a really nice thought. By the way... for the record, I HATE RACISTS!

IRC on Opera

YES! Another reason to  LOVE  Opera. IRC!!!!!! Whootness! I always thought that the Chat feature was useless! I didn't think that I could use it as an alternative to Sysreset. It caught me by surprise when I just clicked this server with an attached channel on it.. then.. ta-da! :yikes:

Well, some people may not be well aware of 'what the hell' am I talking about but for thise people who do... YEY for us! But the IRC download feature doesn't work here on the current Opera 9, and I hope the future versions of Opera will be able to handle that problem.

Christmas 2008

, , ,

It's Christmas day and for me... IT SEEMS JUST LIKE ANY OTHER DAY (other than the fact that I am totally pissed off due to some fuckzhit news). My Christmas wasn't exactly merry but thank you for all those people, eathlings, creatures, and spirits who still wished and greeted me a MERRY CHRISTMAS. This holiday season was simply plain for me. Plain in a way as if it's not Christmas. No gifts, no carols, no feast, no family gatherings, no christmas decors, no holiday fireworks, no christmas shopping, etc. Just the common dinner and the "Merry Christmas" greeting and the fact that we went to church. I have attended two Christmas paties but it was more of an adult formal party and I was NOT allowed to go to my friend's Christmas party. The only thing I received this Christmas (tangible goods and stuff) is the Christmas Card sent by Karen (Nerak), which I am totally grateful for. THANK YOU KAREN!

I spent my entire Christmas staring at the LCD of my laptop typing and reading, sending Xmas e-cards and greetings, receiving Xmas e-cards and online greetings, chatting, downloading some stuff, and watching some anime. Kinda lame huh? But do not misunderstood, I am not very sad that my Christmas wasn't so jolly and merry (maybe a little upset) but it was okay for me. I'm just thankful that my Mom and Dad is with me this holiday season. I even consider myself lucky because I have a roof over my head, warm food to eat, and my family together this Christmas. There are other people who are in far worse cases.

You might think that my family is in POVERTY right now, but not really. Maybe we just didn't celebrate it gallantly this year. We had a quiet and peaceful Christmas and I don't mind staring at the laptop the whole day since it's something I enjoy. Only that I hoped we could have celebrated it more like how other families do. Sometimes it makes me think why are we like this. People who are hungry out in the streets are celebrating Christmas in a more eventful way than us. *sigh*

Well, I sure hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and have a glorious NEW YEAR!

hugs and kisses!

JESUS IS COMING!!!!!!!

Disclaimer: For those religious bad ass, please do not be offended. This was just posted for mere laughs and I am not making fun of Jesus... probably just those who made that stupid sign on that building.

Are you fucking kidding me?! Filipino version of Twilight?! Fuckzhit!!!!!

, , ,

Filipino fans of Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" series will soon have another reason to celebrate after broadcasting giant ABS-CBN bagged the exclusive rights to make a local television series based on the vampire novels.

Initial reports said ABS-CBN paid $1 million with co-producer Ignite Media for the rights to the Twilight series.

The new series, tentatively titled "Takipsilim", will reunite the onscreen tandem of Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao.

Taping for the series will start February of 2009. Some parts of the series will be shot abroad and the other locations include Tagaytay, Bukidnon and Baguio. The series will be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

NO FUCKING WAY ARE WE FANS HAPPY AND EXCITED ABOUT IT!!!

How dare they?! What the hell are they thinking? and how could they let the Philippines have the right to make a series out of it?! The movie was already crappy for me and then they let Filipinos make a series out of it?! TRASH!!!!! And to think that Robert Pattinson didn't even pass as Edward Cullen. What makes Rayver Cruz worthy enough?!

Other people might wonder why am I so frustrated and angry about this. Shouldn't I be happy and proud that my country is going to make a television series of one of the best novels of this time? DEFINITELY NOT! NEVER! I am even ashamed that some of my fellowmen are even participating in this outrageous project! They will only make matters worse. I know this is sooo unlike me, judging something which I haven't fully seen nor heard yet. But the thought of Filipinos making a series of a world wide famous series will just be an embarrasment.

Last but not the least... the title of the upcoming Filipino Twilight Series... "TAKIPSILIM".
OMFG! Are they kidding me? It sounded like an X-rated film or a porn movie (only those who understand tagalog will be able to relate about this issue).

This is not only my opinion. I've heard other fans, especially Filipino fans who are totally against this blasphemy. Of course some fans like me would still watch it... for the sake of knowing on what kinds of torture are we going to unleash at the producers and how much paper mache tomatoes are we going to throw at them!

Right now, I am having murderous intentions. My Christmas was suddely destroyed by this turn of events.

What is True LOVE?

,

Okay, this has been a question that has been around for centuries and even countless research and experience isn't enough to explain it.

The biblical explanation of true love is offering one's self just like how Jesus died on the cross. True love according to 4-8 year olds is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs, what makes you smile when you're tired, when mommy makes coffee for daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK, when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday, when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day, and my favorite : "My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night". Some people say true love is pure love. Unconditional love is also true love. Ask a newly wed couple on what is true love and they'll say true love is what they feel for each other. Mr. Poet will say that "Love is the wisdom of the fool and the folly of the wise". Online quotes say that true love isn't just a feeling but a state of mind.

I am now conducting a survey what is your perception of 'True Love'. Be creative as you can get!

BTW, this is my definition of true love:

True Love is Edward Cullen. Unconditional, Undying, Everlasting, Unreal....
