Third private airline approved in Vietnam

Vietnam government has approved the third private airline - Mekong Aviation today Oct 22. The airline belongs to Mekong Aviation Joint Stock Company.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung requests Ministry of Transport and Communications to license the company. Mekong Aviation will be set up with legal capital of VND 200 billion (USD 12.1 million).

Vietnam Airlines gradually shares the sky with private airlines. A runway security staff at Noi Bai airport.

Mekong Aviation will be the third private airline in Vietnam after Vietjet Airlines and Indochina Airlines (Formerly Speed Up Airlines). Mekong Aviation is expected to operate in 2010 with the fleet of over 10 airjets under 100 seats namely Bombadier, Embraer or ATR 72.

By the end of 2008, the second private airline in Vietnam Indochina Airlines will operate 4 flights on Hanoi - HCMC route per day; HCMC-Danang with 2 flights daily. Flights will be operated with new Boeing 737-800.
