Flash flood causes 100 casualties at least in North Vietnam

Heavy rain after Storm number 4, international names Kammuri has caused flash flood and landslide in the Northern mountainous provinces of Vietnam . Lao Cai province is effected most with 66 death and missing.
According to an urgent report from Government office, Quang Ninh province has 8 death and missing, Phu Tho province has 4. Among total 78 casualties, at least 20 are confirmed death by the afternoon of Aug 9.
According to Committee of Flood & Storm prevention, death toll may raise higher due to high level of water in rivers upstream.
Within 24h from 19h Aug 7 to 19h Aug 8, rainfall in Lao Cai province reached 113.0 mm. Particularly, Bao Yen district, rainfall came to 345.8 mm.
More than 7,000 m3 of landsliding affect to road and agrohydro channels in provinces of Lao Cai, Lang Son and Bac Can. Another 126 houses are reported collapsed and roof destroyed.
Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development said over 1,147 ha of rice field and forestry is flooded after the heavy rain.
Vietnam News Agency reports a gasoline station in Tuyen Quang province was flooded with water. Floating oil affects seriously to people living around the area.

Upstream rivers in those Mountainous provinces has put in grade 3 alert, the highest level. Provinces downstream, including Hanoi are put in arlert for high water level in the rivers. Red river, the main river in the north delta is fore casted to be at 8.0 m height tomorrow Aug 10.
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has instantly urged concern bodies to concentrate in prevention and urgent aids to the affected areas.
Governmental and Ministry delegations are deployed to those provinces to guideline prevention and rehabilitation works.
In another circumcirtance, a suddent cyclone has blown out 70 house roof and collapse 20 house in outskirt area of Ho Chi Minh city early morning of Aug 8. The cyclone also caused 5 injuries./.
