Non stop rains damage Hanoi & North Vietnam

The non-stop heavy rains since Oct 30 caused flood, flash & tube flood in the North of Vietnam. The capital city of Ha Noi was seriously effected by traffic jams and flooded in various spots within the city.
A report from Department of Dyke management & Flood and Storm control said deaths toll up to 5 am today, Nov 2, is 22 people, of which, Hanoi counts for 9 deaths: 5 died from flood; 3 from electricity shock and the other one is from thunder storm.
Vietnam News Agency counting totally 47 deaths and missing, the damage by heavy rain for Hanoi only is about VND 3 trillion (USD 182 mln).
Rainfalls in the recent 3 days measured at over 800 mm totally in Ha Noi area, the average level is about 500 mm in the Northern of Vietnam.
"It is recorded the heaviest rain ever observed in Hanoi city", said an official in short-term focus department, The National focus center of Hydro - meteorological of Vietnam.
Department of Dyke management & Flood and Storm control reported 54,106 houses were flooded, almost 183,000 ha of agricultural land was damaged with food and serious damages to road system in northern Vietnam.
The Vietnam National focus center Hydro - meteorological forecasts heavy rain will continue in the next 2 days. Thousands of army officials are mobilized to fight again flood in northern provinces./.
