Penguins + News & Information

The world is suddenly a lot cooler

avatar

He's finally here. Yeah!!!!!

, ,

Here is my wonderful Penguin from the Baltimore Zoo. I just got him today and the letter says that my name will be on the adopter's display board at the Zoo plus also on their website. I will also get special invitations to come and visit my little guy. I think that it's really cool. They sent a whole page about Fun Facts on the African Penguin, the Habitat, Diet, Adaptations and Conservation. Even some fun facts about them.

I enjoy the stuffed little guy that was sent along with the adoption certificate. My penguin's name is Jake.

Sounds like a perfect plan. The stuffed penguin is soooo soft - you just want to hug him. He feels like one of those beanie babies - but bigger. Very soft and furry.

P.S. I like your name - squeakyCat

my name SqueakeyCat is after a kitten that i owned. she died at just 6 months old. i called her SqueakeyCat cuz when she meowed, instead of sounding like a cat, she sounded like a mouse. everyone loved her.

I am so sorry about that. I rescued a dog - actually called him Jake after my son and he died shortly thereafter from cancer that had spread all the way through his body. The doctors couldn't do a thing to help him. I just had to be with him. I had him for about the same amount of time. Unfortunately, he had been in the shelter for 9 months and then I rescued him and he died 6 months later.

So again, I'm sorry for your cat.

That is the way I feel about my son Jason too. He was meant to be somewhere else. Not here. One day, we will reunite.

Thanks - the actual picture and adoption papers are so cute - so is the stuffed little guy they sent along. It was a good idea to do this because Jason loved Penguins. Last year I gave money to Hurricane Katrina in his name and also to the African Relief Fund. This year I adopted a Penguin. Next year, who knows.....

You are really amazing my new friend from America  for you I have :star::star::star::star::star::star:

Why thank you, my friend. I never want Jason's name forgotten. So every year, I do something in his name - one year I bought four bricks at the zoo - just something that honors his life - and throughout the year when people ask for money for whatever - breast cancer or something like that I give what I can in his memory. It might not be much - but I still give to honor him.

All you have to do is go on your zoo website and check out the animals for adoption - they usually have penguins - and go from there - it is pretty easy. At least it was for me. I did everything online and it only took about a week for the adoption papers and stuffed cutie to show up.

Thanks

Thanks,

The cute little stuffed penguin they sent along I keep in a box or I would hug him all night long. I am looking forward to the first adopters' meeting that they hold at the zoo so I can see my little guy. I am also going to take my two children to see the penguins. I just found a picture of Jason that I am going to upload to this site so everyone can see the real Jake.

Thanks again for the wonderful compliment.
