World of Goo rules. This is a new 2d-puzzle game where you build connections between the goo-balls, you can download a demo version for Windows here, there is the whole first chapter included. It's worth a look.
Also there are beta's for Mac users out there (I'm actually testing on my Mac OSX).

Ambrì article on New York Times Blog

How surprising, The New York Times published a blog entry where they mention my favourite sports team Hockey Club Ambrì-Piotta. It's remarkable because this villages (Ambrì and Piotta) have combined around only 500 people living there and it's the smallest hockey club of the highest National League (NLA) in Switzerland.

Here you can find pictures from the stunning 0-6 win against arch enemy HC Lugano. On the photos you can also discover the waving flags with the "Indian-Face" (Geronimo) on top together with the Che Guevara flag, both are expressive symbols from the fan community behind the team.

Not long ago, I didn't imagine what I can do with a computer mouse and open source software. However, it becomes now some kind of a hobby, these bézier curves are following me the past weeks.

The second portrait is my latest challenge, the man took me around twenty minutes and it looks in a way okay but a women seems to be much more complicated for me (at least yet). :wink:

Yep I know, it's not the taste for everyone but have a look at Cyriak's "Moo!" which recently had without any doubts influence for the "Moo!"-posting in my blog. This video first appeared 2007, so it isn't that new.



And the second video is hard-core so be warned. At least, this also had a bit influence from the picture in the bottom. Now you know where my minds come from, but I can promise these are exceptions. haha!

Inspired by the Excellent-Medal from id Software's game called 'Quake 3 Arena' and modified the edges for my own version, also added simple tooths and left out the crown. I've drawn the sujet with Inkscape.

Ich persönlich habe es im Wikipedia- und Internetzeitalter nie wirklich für nötig gehalten Apple's Dictionary.app aka Lexikon in OS X zu starten. Da ich die letzten Wochen unterwegs leider nicht immer die Gelegenheit hatte online zu gehen und trotzdem schnell wissen wollte wie dies und jenes nochmals in English hiess, bin ich neuerdings auf ein paar nützliche Lexikon-Plugin's gestossen welche ich euch hier nicht vorenthalten will. Der Vorteil ist, dass man sie auch offline nutzen kann ohne eine Internetverbindung herzustellen und die Suche deshalb ratz-fatz von statten geht. Abgesehen davon ist die Nutzung dieser Plug-In's gratis.
Dictionary.app, Beispiel zum deutschem Thesaurus

Momentan suche ich noch ein äquivalente Alternative für die Französische Sprache, sprich mindestens genauso einfache Installation! :wink:

First time I tried something in Inkscape and in a vector graphhics editor at all. Very tedious but nevertheless something different from freehand drawing in Photoshop.

Still playing a little bit with my first vectordrawing, Inkscape is more and more fun and since it is all vector, the picture can be scaled to any size without quality loss. :wink:

Berechnungen mit Spotlight in Mac OS X Leopard [de]

Spotlight in Leopard bietet nun eine elegante Lösung an, Gleichungen schnell und einfach zu berechnen. Allerdings stösst diese Funktion auch an seine Grenzen, zumindest habe ich persönlich noch nicht herausgefunden wie man mit Variablen arbeitet oder beispielsweise ganz einfach ein quadratisches Gleichungssystem lösen kann, auf alle Fälle aber reichen diese Funktion für den alltäglichen Gebrauch bei weitem aus, wie man an den folgenden Beispielen gleich sehen wird.
Die Grundoperationen wie Plus, Minus etc. sollte jedem klar sein. Nichts desto trotz haben sich bestimmt schon einige gewundert, warum man nicht einfache Rechnungen mit Exponenten eingeben kann. Die weit verbreitete Schreibweise für 3^3 anstelle von 3 hoch 3 wird kein Ergebnis in Spotlight anzeigen. Die Lösung dafür will ich anstelle der aufgeführten Liste mit mehr oder weniger nützlichen Funktionen in Spotlight darstellen.


Allgemeine Funktionen

sqrt(x) - Zieht die Wurzel aus der Zahl x also x^(1/2)
sqrt(5) = 2.23606797749979


cbrt(x) - Zieht die Kubikwurzel aus der Zahl x also x^(1/3)
cbrt(27) = 3


pow(x,y) - Die Basis x wird mit dem Faktor y des Exponenten potenziert sprich x hoch y bzw. x^y
pow(2,8) = 256
pow(4096,1/6) = 4


rem(x,y) - Division mit Rest von ganzen Zahlen. Dividend x und Divisor y, das Ergebnis ist der Rest
rem(7,3) = 1


ceil(x) - Aufrundungsfunktion, gibt die nächst höhere ganze Zahl an
ceil(5.3) = 6


rint(x) - Rundungsfunktion 
rint(2.5) = 3


fabs(x) - Liefert den Absolutbetrag, negativer Wert wird mit -1 multipliziert
fabs(-2) = 2
fabs(2-5) = 3


hypot(x,y) - Berechnet aus den Katheten x und y die Länge der Hypotenuse in einem rechtwinkligen Dreieck aus. sqrt(x^2+y^2)
hypot(1,2) = 2.23606797749979


exp(x) - "e hoch x" e^1 => eulersche Zahl
exp(1) = 2.718281828459045


ln(x) - rechnet den natürlichen Logarithmus von x aus.
ln(exp(1)) = 1


log(x) - Logarithmus zur Basis 10
log(100) = 2


Trigonometrische und andere Funktionen

sin() cos() tan() - Sinus-, Cosinus- und Tangensfunktion (Einheiten in Radiant)
asin() acos() atan() - Umkehrfunktionen

sinh() cosh() tanh() - Sinus, Cosinus und Tangens Hyperbolicus
asinh() acosh() atanh() - Umkehrfunktionen

x! - Berechnet die Fakultät 
3! = 1*2*3 = 6


Zahlen
pi = pi = 3.141592653589793
eulersche Zahl = exp(1) = 2.718281828459045
