New "silent" release of Opera Mini 4.1
By ManneS. Thursday, 22. May 2008, 08:38:34
We just released build 4.1.11355 of Opera Mini. If you don't use Palm or BlackBerry, you don't really have to update.
What have we fixed?
- BlackBerry devices should now be able to only use Wi-Fi (also at installation).
- BlackBerry users can try BIS. We can't guarantee that it's working, but it works on one of our two different service providers.
- Palm devices now get better memory handling, which means that they should get more images. This is a hugh improvement over the last build, and hopefully it will be similar to the beta, in the eyes of Palm users.
- A user told us about a bug while adding bookmarks. Most of you have probably not seen it due to the strange reproduction path, but it's fixed. Thanks to some guy using Yahoo mail in Argentina - you probably know who you are!

We hope you will enjoy this release!
Regards,
the Opera Mini team
PS: For Palm users, we recommend these settings in prefs:
Use Double Buffering - on
Use high resolution coordinates - on
Set Memory Maximum: 1Mb
Set Maximum Java Thread Stack Size: 32kb

i use 9300i,i wish if you could add few things to it.
1)cut, paste & copy like native browser
2)multiple window opening. also opening new window from link like native 9300i browser
3)use of only numeric keys for short cuts instead of # and * so full keyboard can be acomodated

And finally my thanks to operamini team. . I hardly use phone browsers as they are not only slow they also download whole data and are therefore expensive.
I often wondered why not the phone manufacturs use the opera mini as their default browser.
Thanks to you all

conclusions:
4.1 uses the processor better and it's faster than 3 on navigating through pages with pictures, except when the 'mobile view' is off and the phone stops responding when trying to display full pages with pictures :-( (probably not enough memory or CPU power)
3 is faster on loading pages with the 'load pictures' off because in stead of a colored shape there's just a shape.

1-memory cash must be defined becoz it fulls and stops fone
2-not all picture are loaded when the quality is high and when there are more pictures
3-opera mini shuts down when you download a *.Jar or *.Pdf files and also some extentions
4-it takes long time to be closed
5-there is no reload to the saved pages

If I have not opened a web page and click first on menu, it crashes immediately. If I enter a web page and go to it, I can navigate, but once I click on menu/tools or menu/bookmarks (or simply on the bookmarks button), it crashes again. Even pressing the "back" button makes it crash. Soft crashes, but nevertheless it gets me nowhere.
I just downloaded and hotsynched opera-mini-4-1-11355-advanced-int.jad upon reading the above advice, to my phone, was it the wrong one?
Is there any other thing I need to do? At first I thought I'd installed the JVM wrong but it seems I installed all the right files. Was I supposed to install the dll's? They're not recognized as "handheld files" so I was afraid to go there, and also they aren't mentioned on the guide that comes with the JVM download (PalmOS JVM 5.7.2).
Can anyone help me? It's getting really frustrating that I can't save any bookmarks or do any prefs. And I hate Blazer!!! It's awful! I can't go to half the pages I used to be able to read on my old phone using Operamini. If I'd known, I'd never have gotten this Centro!

I uninstalled it for re-installation but for running it requires to be connected & again it never connects _ same is with other versions of Opera Mini.
So at the end of day I am without Opera Mini & helpless as I do not know where to find the solution ?
