An even better browsing experience awaits you on Tuesday, June 19th

, ,

Preparations for the new Opera Mini beta, code named ‘Dimension’ are entering the final stretch.

Next Tuesday (June 19th), just 4 days from now, is when we'll release our baby, the new Opera Mini beta, to the world. Browsing the web with Opera Mini is about to become even easier and more enjoyable.

Our developers and QA teams have been working real hard at making Opera Mini the best possible mobile browser. We’re so excited, that we can't stop talking about it. We’ve been talking to journalist, bloggers, select users, and influential web developers (of course under embargo) about Opera Mini. Many of our executives are now on a worldwide press tour, showing off the mini (sic) browser.

We’re extremely proud of what we’ve done in bringing life to the mobile web. No more are you limited to mobile-only (i.e. WAP) websites or required to have a phone with high processing/memory capabilities to browse the real web. We believe that when web developers build websites for it to work on the web, it should work on the ‘Web’ – wherever the web is, including your mobile phone.

We can’t wait till Tuesday – just 4 days! :hat:

Opera Mini beta contest

, ,

We know you're waiting anxiously for the Opera Mini Dimension beta release. Trust me, we're having a hard time waiting ourselves (except for the developers and testers all over the world working their butts off to make sure everything is just right). I wish I could say more, but it's going to be a really exciting release.

To make things interesting, we decided to run a small contest:

Send us your guesses as to what you think the biggest new feature of Opera Mini Dimension will be. For those who get it right or are the closest to getting it right, we'll send you a brand new Opera Mini tshirt, never before released until now. We'll give out three shirts. If more than three people guess correctly, we'll do a random drawing amongst the best guessers to select the three winners.

Send your best guess here: http://my.opera.com/Opera-contest/about/sendmsg.dml
Please use the following subject: beta

Deadline: ? (You don't seriously think we're going to give away the release date, do you? )

The deadline to submit your guesses is the release date of Opera Mini Dimension beta. Don't take a chance; send your guess early. Only one submission per contestant, and only one guess per submission. Good luck!

Update (6/20/07)

Here are the winners (we'll be contacting you shortly):

marcinec
ThiagoHP
rasinhussy

Here at Opera, we are famous for our fast and furious brainstorming activities. Here are some photos documenting the evolution of our creative design process. Maybe they'll provide a clue or two as to what the biggest new feature is (or maybe not)...
