Drinking water

My holyday has started. I´ve been extremely busy at work and 90% of my focus has been there last week.
Now I got time to relax completely and think about simple and yet important things

This morning I was amazed by our necessity of water. I live in a part of the world..in a society where you just have to turn a knob, or press a button and the clearest running water, pours out of the tap.
The water of Elsinore tastes really good. There´s a lot of taste in it. The content of calcium is quite high, but the c. carries the taste. The taste is best if you drink it, not too cold mmmhh

Nice one nic, I've taken similar pics - but mine were in a bar in the city. I looked at the bubbles rising in the beer glass, saw the condensation covering parts of the chilled glass and the way the light fell through the crystal, reached for my cam and had a moment of "hight art" in abstract style - or was it "still life"?

I like the simplicity of the images you capture. They are often minimalist.

Great pic's, the top one in particular. And yes, it its a privilege indeed to be able to drink the primary necessity of life right from the faucet.

In Belgrade, we can drink directly from faucet too and water is of good quality. But when I was in Vienna everyone told me that I MUST try their water - the water is transported from Alps directly to town where it stays less than 3 days in reservoirs. It is cold like you are drinking it from spring and the taste is wonderful. More information about Vienna Waterworks here.
My friends told me that in one moment their water became so popular that it was normal to see queue in front of restaurants with tourists just waiting to drink a glass of water from Vienna (or Alps)

After that, a lot of restaurants started to remunerate it

I think I will have a glass of water now.

Not until you've lived in a country where you can't drink directly from the tap do you really appreciate what you have. I feel so fortunate for our water quality as well.

I was going to say I liked the second one best but now I like them both for different reasons. The first one gives the illusion the counter top (or table) is spinning and the reflection the water glass is making on the counter looks like a little city w/ fireworks. The second one I like because of all the shapes and lines and what looks like a spark of electricity coming from the bottom of the glass. I look at everything as if I were going to paint it and that makes my imagination run away.

I drink from the faucet as well but sometimes I can smell chlorine which makes me taste it too. I try to keep several gallons of bottled water for drinking, filling up ice cube trays and cooking. I have read where there are harmful pharmaceuticals in our water from too much dumping but then there are fanatics who write stuff just to get a rise out of people so I don't know if that is true. The city says it tests the water all the time and it is safe. But still....90% of the time I drink bottled water.

I often admire the coca cola comercial guys and their ability to make the glasses and their content look so frech and cool by the reflexions and the light and bubbles in the glasses.

Most often I like to make any kind of art I deal with, as simple as possible. It´s due to the fact that there´s a lot of noise and fliccer in my daily life. Both inside and outside so I really worship:
The silence between important words
The pauses between wonderful tones
The absense of items between powerful images

A good way to make myself at ease. I´ve suffered from extreme noises and inner picture storms. Over the years yoga, meditation, healty eating and physical training have kept me on track. But I have to think of it often in order not to flip out. If I don´t get a grip I get worked up and explode in activity and then afterwords sleeps for days

Talking about water: A few years ago I had some contacts in India. I was communicating with a woman on messenger. All of a sudden she stopped the communication with the words. Se ya in half an hour. Have to get water from well.

"turbo zapping"

My dreams at night are often like that and I often wake up exhausted or worried about who knows what. During the day, I take one or two short naps.......meditation like. They last from twenty minutes to an hour. I start by telling myself when to wake up, then begin telling my body (starting w/ the toes) to relax, totally relax. Sort of like self-hypnosis. I don't think I ever get past the ankles when I am in a semi-deep sleep. I always wake up exactly the time I said and my whole body and mind feels rejuvinated.

Yep, that'd be me. When my kids were young, they'd often find me looking at something intently. It could be ants carrying things down into the ground or just a reflection on the outdoor patio ceiling from a bucket of water. They would always roll their eyes and say "that's ok mom".

Very nice pictures! I wish we could drink from the tap, but we have to buy all our water. We have friends who have spring water and often save the jugs and fill them up at their place, but it's fairly far away, not worth making the trip just for water.

good post nic. great pics and comments. there are some who cannot drink from there taps here, but i dare not drink from well water in these parts! there is too much gypsm and it is very hard to swallow that white stuff!

we have to chlorinate our water and yes, they test for some stuff -- not all stuff, but it is a general test for the entire nation. therefore, some items in the water might not be tested for by the authorities. an individual can perform their own (at their own expense) tests through a private business. i wouldn't recommend anyone test their tap water unless they are ready to be surprised at the findings . . . . if you are healthy, you can usually drink the water in your region without consequence. if you are in a different region, i would suggest you purchase bottled water and ease into the tap water available.

i favor the second pic because i can see through the window and also see the reflection in the glass of the glass of water. that's just me seeing beyond -- in my own little world i am!

When not too cold, it tastes like the way velvet feels to touch

. It´s a round taste, not a sharp taste. I always have a glass of water at the computer and when the water is about room temperature, it tastes yummy

In south africa we are lucky enough to be able to drink water out of the tap.

the best water in south africa as i have found was in cape town. Joburg not so great But durban has great water too. Water is the most important commodity to life, i just dont understand why all countries make it possible for people to drink tap water.

best I ever had was iced-cold straight from the stream, hiking in the states-- Montana... it was so fresh, so wonderful. And I was so thirsty.

I´ve tried cool fresh mountain stream water as well. It´s something special, that´s for sure. Melted water from top snow and ice from the mountain snow tips mmmhh

This is why you're the artist Nic. I wouldn't even think of photographing a glass of water.

Ireland is having trouble with water lately, too much. There's been flooding, the farmers can't harvest, and drinking supplies have been contaminated by run off.

In my hometown The municipal authorities has taken advantage of the increasing amount of rain. Great bassins to collect the water has been built. SO. we have a lot of water for a lot of purposes

Water in Madrid is also good, but it´s still better in the mountains, where I live (San Lorenzo de El Escorial), especially when you drink it cold... It may sound crazy, but it tastes a little bit like pine trees on a rainy day...
