The old warehouse

Painting by Mogens Lorentzen (1892-1953) painted in app. 1920

Photo taken 2008..not much have changed at the surface. The building is close to where I work and it´s not a warehouse anymore. Nowadays it contains offices.

Scott asked about the painting, reading my post "Reflections in my silent kitchen". The painting is a gift from my father shortly before he died in 1994. The painter was a friend of my father

Waiting for supper

Finally I managed to finish my painting. :hat: It was a tough one this time :eyes: It´s nice to be able to let it go now

Upright fruit bowl

I´ve been a little bit sad because I´ve had to cancel my fruitbowl. A swerm of small flies rose fromthe grapes :frown: I saved the apples and the bananas and the oranges..but the grapes had to go. I eat a lot of fruit, but i also like to look at the fruitbowl and its content. The colours and the forms of the fruits. The bowl is a sculptural pleasure to watch. But now I have to put my fruite in the fridge, so it wont go bad too soon.
To satisfy my eyes I made this Upright fruit bowl out of a big vase, coloured rubber balls and shiny metal balls. The naturel qualities of the pieces of fruits exellent shapes and sharp colours and reflexions are tried reconstructed. For me, the visual satisfaction has returned
And I can still eat fresh fruit from the fridge  :D

OfficeArt 2

The OfficeArt concept continues :D :

Create a piece of art, in one hour, and I am only allowed to use office articles.
Here is what I allowed myself to use:

And this is the result:

Violin Players

OfficeArt 1

Had a little bit more to do at work today. But mostly still boring. SO. I had to make one more drawing after the same concept as yesterday.
Here is what happened :D

The dogma is, as some of you know, to create a piece of art, in one hour, and I am only allowed to use office articles.
Here is what I allowed myself to use:

1 bottle of white correction fluid
1 red fine point colour pen
1 black fineliner 0.5mm
1 pencil HB
I wanted to work on black paper, but the office couldn´t provide any. SO. I had to make an A3 Negative copy on the Xerox

I was tired and couldn´t come up with some new theme
The theme is the same but the form, more obscure.

Tango Obscuro

OfficeArt

I´m not sure if there´s such thing as Office Art. But anyway, that´s what I´ll call it

At work after lunch, there was absolutely nothing to do.
Noone recuired service, no meetings and no documents on my desk :eyes: It´s the second time in 8 years THAT has happened :left:

Well..I gave myself a task. Had to, because I would prevent myself from surfing on the internet or makin´ a long chain out of paperclips

The task was to create a piece of art, in one hour, and I was only allowed to use office articles.
Here is what I allowed myself to use:

A piece of brown wrapping paper (for parcels).
Two Speed Markers 9mm, one black, one red
One filt pen 0,5 mm
One flask of white correction fluid

I would make a drawing with these materials.

I needed something to draw and found this pair of Tango dansers on the internet:

I found their position great for a proposal for the drawing
Here it is:

Exept for the internetsearch, I really did it in one hour.

It´s not entirely new to me this. Tried it 8 years ago

Used only black and white then
It´s the tennisplayer Anna Kurnikova  :D

Inside - Outside

The Art School

I got an insight into the life at this school recently through the resending of the 2002 documentary by the Danish National Television, ‘Tosset med Kunst’ (Crazy about art) . It has been a great interest of mine.. It´s such a great way of communicating across all kind of borders..artistic, mental ..you name it. There has been several progammes and articles in various medias about the subject, because of a new exhibition called Inside – Outside.
After seeing the exhibition at The Round Tower. I got the utmost respect for The Art Shool, the teachers and most of all, the artists. I´ve learned so much. Things I can use immediately in my painting.

The Art School for Adults with Learning Disabilities opened in 1994
The Art School offers tuition to adults with learning disabilities who wish to develop their interest in the visual arts and create paintings, drawings and sculpture.
The Art School is part of Handicap center Vest in the Municipality of Copenhagen.
Many students and teachers have contributed to the development of the School.
The School has become a part of a creative and inspiring arts centre for people with learning disabilities.
The medias and the key personel, in the arts circles are gaining more and more interest in in this institution.

The Round Tower

Rundetaarn (The Round Tower) was built on the initiative of King Christian IV (1588-1648) with Hans Steenwinkel the Younger as the architect. On July 7th -1637, the foundation stone for Rundetaarn was laid. The tower was the first stage of the Trinitatis complex, which was to gather three important facilities for the scholars of the seventeenth century: an astronomical observatory, a student church and a university library.
The library hall, above the vaults of the Church of Trinitatis, was used as a university library in the years 1657 - 1861.

In 1987, the hall was reopened after thorough restoration, and the 900 square metres of the room, now serve as a museum of changing exhibitions of art, culture, history and science. Entrance to the museum is only possible, through The Round Tower.
To go to the third floor level in order to visit the museum, you have to use the wonderful spiral walk.

The spiral walk is unique in European architecture. The 209 m long spiral ramp winds itself 7,5 times round the hollow core of the tower, forming the only connection between the individual parts of the building complex.

An exhibition called
Inside – Outside

‘inside – outside’ asks the question:
Who is outside, seen from within…or vice versa
The exhibition shows more than 130 works of art made during the last three years by adults with developmental handicaps on Kunstskolen (The Art School).

Many people got an insight into the life at the school through the 2002 documentary by the Danish National Television, ‘Tosset med Kunst’ (Crazy about art)
The exhibited works are each an expression of inspiration, fascination, experiences, happiness and sorrow…
It is all about life – lived, seen and shaped into familiar or surprising forms.

Some of the artists and a few of their works:

Christian Carlsen
Girl & Man
Acrylic on canvas 80 X 100 centimetres
This painting brought tears to my eyes. So direct..so sensitive..beautiful.

Christian Carlsen
Death takes the child
Acrylic on canvas
120 x 150 centimetres
Powerful, expressive, fantastic.

Steffen Maahr
Indians with pubic hair
Acrylic on canvas
Great humour.

Inger Andersen
Ice Bears
Steel wire
It´s like a pencildrawing made 3 dimentional. It was really an eye opener for me. Exceptional tecnique. I was so impressed.

This exhibition might very well be the most important for me this year. I´m very thankful, moved and inspired. It´s like being given a lot of energy. I´ve learned a lot about the communication and the creation of art. This exhibition even overrules the overall impression I got from the exhibition at the Loisiana art museum, showing Giacometti and Cezanne!

Repetitions #2

This is the second painting I have made in the dogma series out of five. The dogma theme is descriped in the post further down this page under the headline Repetitions #1. Have learned so much about clean colours and surfaces now. It will really come in handy in the future with more difficult items.
