Boat trip From Mandalay to Bagan
Images: 26
This is the highlight of my trip to Burma. Not easy to have the right information of the boat but it's worth my effort. There was no other choice at the time of Sep 2008 rather than taking a "slow boat" along the Ayeyarwady River but it turned out right decision with so much fun and joy. Started at 5:30am, arriving Bagan after 14hrs. Great adventure! -

Inle Lake, Myanmar
Images: 16
Inle Lake is one of the most spectacular highlights in Myanmar. It's located in the central highlands in Shan state at the elevation of ~900m above sea level. The estimated surface area of this fresh water lake is about 116 km2. There are about 70,000 local people living at more than 200 villages on or around the lake.
The lake's most unusual feature is its extraordinary "one-legged fishermen", who have developed an original, eccentric method of rowing with one leg, leaving their hands free to drop their tall conical nets over passing fish, which they can spot in the shallow lake. -

Day trip to Tho Ha Village - Bac Ninh
Images: 29
Tho Ha Village is situated on the bank of Cau River in Bac Ninh province, about 50km Northest of Hanoi. In the old days, Tho Ha was a famous place for producing ceramic and pottery products. In 1980s, Tho Ha villagers turned to produce dry rice papers for making spring rolls, dried rice noodles and raising animals then pottery was gradually abandoned. The village itself and local people offer a typical country life of Northern Vietnam.

Cao Dai Temple

Dao Cao Dai or Caodaism in English is the third largest religion in Viet Nam (after Buddhism and Roman Catholicism). It is a relatively new, syncretistic, monotheistic religion, officially established in Tay Ninh (about 100km Northwest of Saigon) in 1926. Caodaism combines elements from different world's main religions, including Buddhism, Confucianism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Taoism, as well as Geniism, an indigenous religion of Viet Nam.
The term "Cao Đai" literally means "High Palace". Figuratively, it refers to supreme palace where God reigns. It is also the abbreviated name for God, the creator of the universe.

Halong Bay - The World Heritage
Images: 17
Ha Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the Gulf of Tokin, Quang Ninh province, northeastern of Vietnam. The bay has a 120 kilometre long coastline and is approximately 1,553 square kilometres in size with 1969 of limestone karsts and islets in various sizes and shapes.
Local legend says that long ago when the Vietnamese were fighting Chinese invaders, the gods sent a family of dragons to help defend the land. This family of dragons began spitting out jewels and jade. These jewels turned into the islands and islets dotting the bay, linking together to form a great wall against the invaders. The people kept their land safe and formed what later became the country of Vietnam. After that, dragons were interested in peaceful sightseeing of the Earth and decided to live here then.
