technological terms and pets' nicknames

i didn't know before that a widget was a computer term, until recently. i always thought a widget was a dog who . . . has a mind of her own, controls her own space, and contributes to the antics of our family life! that is a widget in our family, not to mention the wig-wag.

i found out a few years back that a wig-wag is actually a mechanical device used in a washing machine -- that when broken causes a major problem in using such a machine! to me, a wig-wag was just that wonderful butt motion that i got when i returned home and the dogs were happy to see me . . .

back to the widget . . . maybe this is an "opera" description for a functional tool/menu, but this terminology really made me laugh out loud. how can a "widget" be sitting on her bed, thumping her tail, and terrorizing the bird without being anywhere near the point of widgetdom? she might fall asleep, she might get up and run circles around, or she might just give you a big hug . . . one never knows about a true widget, never! and widgets are NOT the same as nuggets!

a nugget, nugget-head, is much different . . . allowed to follow his nose and pointed head will find some of the most interesting and unusual places to put himself in. how can a small horse (big dog, as in takes up half the couch, stand hip-high) still be so curious; day after day, time after time? THAT is the hearty dog for you!

and, please don't tell me there is a technical term that refers to my favorite nickname for birdie bird . . . turd-bird . . . that might make me fall off this chair!

thanks for the comments. please share your nicknames of your pets and animals . . . we could have some fun with this you think?

how about "the sigh" a most warming sound that i hear right before sleeping time. one of my favorite behaviors that may not have a nickname. or the round-n-round before i go down behavior . . .
