visa, balkan, holiday, Mira
Wow! A comment on my last photo album. It suddenly reminds me: there have been months since I last updated them. I hope it just goes to show how busy I've been. The harm has been done, the memories of my last photo sessions almost gone, so there will be no hind-posting, just read the sketchy comments in the albums.

..is the way they change. not with a bang, with a whimper
The plan to go to Belgrade just fell. Shot to pieces by a lady at the Serbia and Montenegro Consulate in Timişoara. And I never heard her miss a heartbeat while she gave me the news.
But hey, at least she spoke Romanian. At the Serbian embassy in Bucharest I reached someone who only spoke Serbian. And during the holiday, at the consulate there was only one guy who told me in English no one is there.
From what I understood from the
official page*search for Romania, I could use my US visa to hang around Belgrade for a few days, and fly from there.
Romanian nationals may transit Serbia and Montenegro without a visa requirement during a maximum period of 5 days from the date of entry. They should possess a valid residence authorization in any EU country, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Canada, United States, Japan or Australia, provided the duration of the transit is not longer than the duration of the authorization.
But nooo, at the consulate they say it's not possible; by invitation/voucher only. Maybe the page is not updated, or it connects to the
90 days without a visa regime for the diplomatic and official passports...
Anyhow, stand by for more plans.

Air Seychelles flies to Paradise on Earth several times a week, leaving from London, Munich, Paris and Rome, and also from Johannesburg, Mauritius and Singapore.
Serbia has less places to go without a visa than Romania, so we used
http://www.mfa.gov.yu/Visas/yu_without_visa.htmas a reference.
Notice the
plethora of options*[in romanian] I personally have.
Of all the warm places,
Seychelles looks interesting.
Of all the cold places,
Andorra looks interesting.
Of all the balanced places,
Tunisia looks interesting.
Then there are the backups.

They can't make an appointment until Jan 9
Apparently the US consulate in Serbia is overworked this time of the year, and there are no available appointment dates. Even for emergency visas.
So close, and yet so far. We are looking into alternate destinations, ones that don't require entry visas. Opera offers its full support. Maan, I hate plans B.

I'm filling out the forms to apply for the US visa.
Did you know?
The USA NONIMMIGRANT
VISA APPLICATION page doesn't work in Opera. The JS simply can't validate a normal DOB.
I also got a nice invitation from Opera. Proof that I am the competition winner, that will come in handy at the visa interview. It was signed by
Mr. Eskil Sivertsen, Public Relations Manager. There goes my last chance to find out what the J in
Brian's name comes from.
