The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round - it has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a very long time and they begin to question; is this real or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered and they come back to us saying "Hey don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride."And we... kill those people.
"We have a lot invested in this ride. Shut him up. Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account and my family. This just has to be real."
Just a ride. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok. But it doesn't matter because it's just a ride and we can change it anytime we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money. A choice right now between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love, instead, see all of us as one.
Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defences each year and instead spend it on feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space together, both inner and outer, forever in peace.

I love going shopping with my nana. I'm a big boy now. Seven whole years old and I can carry the bags. I'm really strong too. I can manage two whole carrier bags now. Nana loves having help. She calls me her big strong helper and buys me sweets. This time I've been an extra good boy and she's taking me to see a movie next week. We're off to the pictures now to find out the time. It's a bit silly that we have to go all the way there just to find that out. I wish there was a way to find out from home because my arms are getting tired.

I need to know if she really thinks dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago. I want to know that. I really do. Because she's gonna have the nuclear codes you know?
It was June 1997, and Sarah Palin, mayor of Wasilla in Alaska, had just given a speech for a graduation ceremony of local home schooled children when she struck up an interesting conversation with Phillip Munger, the University of Alaska's music instructor. During this conversation she insisted that humans and dinosaurs walked the earth at the same time, only 6000 years ago, and that she had seen photographs of human footprints inside the fossils of dinosaur tracks.
Yeeeeesssss, so anyway... Is it me or are statements like that fucking terrifying coming from someone who wants to have their finger on the button that can end this world? You can just see them there, finger hovering - "Tell me when lord! It's all up to you. You told me to kill my pet dog and I did. Speak to me again, lord!" Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against faith in politics. I do however draw the line at blatant insanity.
It's not often you'll find me agreeing with someone like Matt Damon, but I'll let him have his say over on the right there. It pretty much says it all doesn't it? No? Well let me hand it over to Bill Hicks and we'll see what he has to say on the matter.

Touchscreen phones - I really can't stand them. There's no tactile feedback when you touch a "button". No reassuring clicks when typing. And the screens, don't get me started on how easily they scratch. As a result, the Nokia 5800 touchscreen S60 version 5 phone was way down at the bottom of my list of interests.
Sure, it's got some interesting features, but they never got me past my hatred of touchscreens.
- 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera.
- 3.2 inch, 640x320 pixel screen.
- New improved interface with full backwards compatibility between applications.
- HSDPA, Wi-Fi and GPS.
- Full external sensor support including accelerometer.
- Support for up to 32gb memory cards with an 8gb card in the box.
- Enhanced web browser with full widget support and enhanced widget engine enabling access to core applications.
- Stereo speakers.
- Up to 9.5 hours talk time.
- TV-out capabilities.
Some great features there but not enough to shell out £400 on a new phone whose main feature (the touchscreen) I don't like anyway. However, the announcement that the phone would be £215 (€274, $379, R3239) SIM free, blew my reservations out of the water.
I started thinking about the fact that I've just won a bluetooth keyboard and would mostly be using the phone via the keyboard while plugged into the TV, or resting on it's stand. It's amazing how cheap this phone is being launched at. In every way it's an upgrade for me and at a ridiculously cheap price too.
Considering the package contains an 8gb memory card, the stylish stand pictured above, a TV-out cable, two stylus, a thumb plectrum attached to the wrist strap and a protective carry case, the price just gets better and better.
Well done Nokia. You've just taken the 5800 from the very bottom of my list to top of the pile.

I mentioned a while ago that I've been trying out some new stuff for my page and I need someone to tell me if the latest thing works.
PC users should be able to pull up an explanation box simply by hovering their mouse over the the words "does this work?" in the middle of the post. Can someone let me know please.
So does this work?
EDIT - Thanks to those who let me know that it works. It's pretty simple code really, designed to let people explain an acronym in an article without interrupting the flow of the article. To do this in your own pages simply use the following code.
<acronym title="Explanation of term">Term to be explained.</acronym>
For example, in this post, this is what I typed.
<acronym title="Yes, but only because Furie's a bloody genius!">does this work?</acronym>
Hope you guys can find some use for it.

I've just been testing the native S60 search applications from Yahoo and Google. Both are excellent solutions for mobile users but neither is essential yet. Lets have a look at them and see the strengths each has.
- Both can be set as shortcuts on the active standby screen, either as icons or on the softkeys.
- Clicking on them once opens a search bar on the active standby screen where you can type your search request and have it sent to the browser.
- The Yahoo application suggests searches while you're typing which can save some time for some people.
- The Google application caches the search page which saves on some data for users.
- The Google application has a direct link to the Google mobile services homepage.
Unfortunately these aren't perfect applications. Most people who use the main S60 browser instead of the alternatives have the Mobile Search application on their phones. This allows people to search the web directly from the active standby screen already. Releasing these applications as upgrades to this feature would have increased their usefulness a lot. Also, neither of the applications allows you to keep your login details from the search site on the application meaning results are only the default quick search ones.
With the capabilities of each added together and the ability to actually login to a site through the application either of these would be essential downloads for S60 users. However, as they stand they're just novelties for serious users at best and blatant advertisements at worst. Each could easily have been integrated into Nokia's Mobile Search, making that piece of our phones much more useful (the only option it gives me is Windows Live Search and Yandex), meaning the only feasible reason they'd create seperate applications is to advertise their products.
